Open your home. Change a life.
Being a Host Home Provider is both a challenge and a calling — one that offers deep rewards. At Community Living Alternatives (CLA), our Host Home Providers are extraordinary people who open their hearts and homes to create safe, inclusive, and fulfilling living experiences for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Currently only accepting fully accessible home applications
Due to high application volume, we are not accepting new submissions at this time. Please check back for updates. However, if you have a fully accessible home and are interested in providing respite care, contact us at cla@clainc.org
At CLA, we believe that everyone deserves to live in a welcoming home where they feel valued and supported. Our Host Home Program connects individuals with caring families and individuals who can provide stable, person-centered living environments.
We are always interested in meeting potential providers who can offer long-term placements or respite care.
Applications are accepted year-round so that we can thoughtfully match the right homes with the right individuals.
What Is a Host Home?
A Host Home is a model of residential support where an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability lives with a family or individual without disabilities. Instead of rotating staff, the person becomes part of a family — building lasting relationships and a true sense of belonging.
Role of the Host Home Provider
As a Host Home Provider, you are an independent contractor with CLA, not an employee. You’ll support the person in your home to develop and maintain life skills such as:
• Budgeting, cooking, and laundry
• Personal hygiene and daily routines
• Coping and communication skills
• Community participation
Some individuals may require additional personal care support (e.g., mobility assistance, bathing, or toileting). You’ll work closely with an Interdisciplinary Team—including case managers, guardians, and CLA staff—to ensure each person’s well-being. Daily documentation is part of maintaining quality, consistency, and compliance.

Compensation
Host Home Providers receive payment monthly for the previous month’s services. Compensation includes:
• Daily support services
• Respite care
• Transportation
• Participation in required training and meetings
The daily rate is determined by the State of Colorado and based on each person’s assessed needs. In addition, providers receive room and board payments under a separate residency agreement (lease) with the person living in their home.
