Meet Paul, Community Living Alternatives Day Program, CLASS, participant. At 55 years old, Paul’s roots run deep in southwest Denver—living in the same house where he was born, surrounded by the family and community that have shaped his life. Paul has been supported by Community Living Alternatives (CLA) since 1991, with his older brother serving as his dedicated family caregiver. Together, they’ve built a life centered around independence, connection, and pride.
Paul is a proud graduate of West High School and has lived in the same neighborhood since childhood. He’s a true Colorado sports fan, cheering for the Rockies, Nuggets, and Avalanche—and especially lighting up when WWE comes to town. Whether he’s watching matches on TV or catching a game in person, Paul brings joy and energy to every event.
But Paul’s passions go beyond the screen. Each Friday, he rolls out his yoga mat at Guided by Humanity studios, where he’s a regular. Recently, he even took part in a glamping trip with the group—showing his adventurous side. He also enjoys outdoor fun at home, playing football, softball, and catch with his brother.
When he’s not moving, Paul’s mind stays sharp. He plays word games and solitaire on his phone daily, and he loves classic card games too. His social life is equally vibrant. He talks on the phone with friends from his day program, CLA’s CLASS, almost every night—proof that meaningful relationships are a big part of his world.
Paul’s story is a powerful reminder of what pride, connection, and support can look like. With the right resources, a strong community, and unwavering family love, Paul continues to thrive—and to live life on his terms.
This Disability Pride Month, we celebrate Paul and the many individuals who are living with dignity, joy, and independence. We’re proud to be part of their journey.
