During recent discussions at CLASS Day Program, program participants, along with staff decided that we would like to help people in need as a community awareness project. We talked about different ways that we could raise community awareness for our program members, and provide much needed help, especially with the holiday season getting closer.
After several discussions, we have decided that we would like to have a food drive and donate all items collected to food banks and/or shelters. We also would like to collect clothing and hygiene items as well. We are asking for assistance from providers, family members, friends and anyone else who would like to help.
We will continue to collect the items until November 15th, at which time we will donate the items to as many organizations as possible.
Non-perishable items include can goods, pasta, peanut butter, Ramon noodle soup, and other items that will not spoil.
We ask for new, unopened hygiene items such as shampoo, soap, shaving items, etc. We also ask for “gently used” clothing such as coats, sweaters, socks, gloves, as well as any other clothing items.
Thank you in advance for your help. CLASS is a proud part of the Aurora community, and I’m happy to say that the people who attend our program are willing to help those in need.
